The Dark Comprehended it Not

Aug 18, 2021    Bishop Adam G. Blackstock

As you begin to draw closer and closer to the Lord, you find yourself surrounded
by more and more people that either look like you and are light people or the opposite,
people that are darker than they used to be. It is important to know that they are not
getting darker in most cases, your light is just getting brighter. God wants your light to
shine so that you will draw all men unto Him. He also wants you to be brighter so that
you may expose the darkness for what it is, Satan-led activities. Jesus showed us that
even His light was bright and the darkness did not understand Him. John said “In the
beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The
same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was
not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”(John 1:1-5
KJV)

Repeat after me, I AM a child of the light.

I believe this refrain is an important call of the believer. We should shout it from
the mountain tops. If you live right, you won't even need to shout at it at all. Your light
will show up everywhere you go by your actions. In the sermon on the mount in the
book of Matthew, Jesus shared with us the importance of showing the light of God off
through our activities. Jesus said “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill
cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a
candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine
before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in
heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16 KJV) Jesus said that you showing your light off will glorify
God. I believe a mandate from God was drawn at that point. Has your light stopped
shining? Has it dimmed because of circumstances and concerns of the world? The
greatest proof of your citizenship in the kingdom of God is your ability to shine your light
bright even amid trials and tribulations.

Repeat after me, I AM a child of the light.

Here are a few more scriptures for you to ponder.

“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that
followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” (John 8:12 KJV)

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with
another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”(1 John 1:7
KJV)

“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath
righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?”
(2 Corinthians 6:14 KJV)

“And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove
them.” (Ephesians 5:11 KJV)

Last time, repeat after me, I AM a child of the light.
